MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- The Lady Bobcats welcomed the Saints (8-10) from the University of St. Francis (Ill.) to the Fernandez center Tuesday night. STU surrendered a big run during the middle of the first half and were not able to overcome the deficit falling to the Saints, 38-56.
The Bobcats kept it close early, holding a 9-9 tie at the first half's 11 minute mark. From there, the ladies gave up 14 straight and found themselves down by a nearly insurmountable lead. STU went in down 16-31 at the break.
The ladies battled hard in the second half, but were unable to chip away at the lead with any real success. The Bobcats struggled shooting all night, recording 13-of-66 (19.7 percent) from the field with 3-of-18 from beyond the arc. STU made up significant ground in rebounds throughout the second half and won the turnover battle, forcing 21 while surrendering 16. Cindy Castillon led the Bobcats 17 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lady Bobcats will look to come back from this loss as they take on Warner in the Fernandez Center at 6 p.m. Friday night.
