MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – No. 2 seed St. Thomas (8-6-2) defeated no. 6 seed Florida Memorial (7-15-1) 3-0 in the semifinals of The Sun Conference ChampionshipsÂ
Tuesday night at Bobcat Field. St. Thomas will now host no. 4 seed Keiser in The Sun Conference Championships FinalsÂ
on Friday atÂ
6 p.m. at Bobcat Field.

St. Thomas scored twice in the first half on goals by
Artur Sharapov and
Kris Wilkinson. Roni Luokkamaki provided the cross that
Artur Sharapov clincically finished into the back of the net in the 8th minute.
Kris Wilkinson added the second goal of the first half for the Bobcats after skillfully dribbling past defenders and striking a laser of a shot into the bottom left corner just before the end of the half. Â
An insurance goal by
Danny Martinez in the second half iced the match for the Bobcats. Playing down a man after the Bobcats received a red card at the end of the first half, they expected to spend the rest of the match defending their two goal lead. However, Danny Martinez caught the Florida Memorial defense off guard in the 75th minute and chipped a beautiful shot into goal from just inside the 18-yard box.Â

Connor Christie made several sensational saves (five total), including a stunning save on a penalty kick, to preserve the shutout.
