Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – No. 2 seed St. Thomas (18-9, 12-5 TSC) defeated no. 6 seed Webber International 83-66 in the quarterfinals of The Sun Conference Championship tournament on Thursday night at the Fernandez Family Center.
Junior Armand Shoon led the Bobcats with 23 points, hitting five of his seven three-point attempts. Raheem Bowman recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for the Bobcats were Michael Walker (15 points) and James Vice (13 points).
The Bobcats held a slim lead through most of the first half with the Warriors tying the game 25-25 with 4:16 to play in the first half. STU then outscored WIU 13-5 to end the first half with a five-point lead. Shoon scored 16 points, hitting four three-pointers in the first half alone. Dewaine Lyals matched Shoon's point-total with 16 points in the first half as well for the Warriors.
With the win, St. Thomas advances to the semifinals of The Sun Conference Championship tournament to be played on Monday, Feb. 29. The Bobcats will face no. 2 seed Warner at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in West Palm Beach.
