Miami Gardens, Fla. – St. Thomas University junior center fielder Jose Gomez has won one of nine gold gloves awarded by the Sun Conference following the conclusion of the regular season and conference tournament. All nine gold glove winners from the Sun Conference will move on to the Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove national ballot.

 In 93 chances throughout the season, Gomez did not commit any errors. Gomez's team-leading .383 batting average and 17 stolen bases, combined with his perfect fielding percentage, were worthy of first team All-Sun Conference honors. He was also named Baseball Player of the Week (Feb. 29, 2016) by the Sun Conference for a three-game stretch in which he went 11-12 at the plate, scored 10 runs, drew five walks, drove in four runs, and stole three bases.
