Castrillon performed very well in her Senior season, averaging 14.97 ppg.  The Lady Bobcats reached the NAIA Tournament before being ousted in the first round by Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Memorial on their home court Friday night and were determined to move on. After trailing for the majority of the first half, the ladies rallied and tied the game heading into the break.

STU jumped out to a 7-0 run in the second half, and never surrendered their lead.  Cindy Castrillon led the game in scoring with 21, despite poor shooting from the field.  Alex Vanterpool added 12 and Nicky Montina 10.

The Bobcats (20-8) will face Northwood in the final tomorrow at 3 PM at Fla. Memorial.

Alexandria Vanterpool was named Newcomer of the Year in the Sun Conference. Vanterpool is in her first year as a Bobcat, averaging 12.0 ppg, on 47.8 percent shooting, and 6.79 rpg.  Vanterpool played at Western Oklahoma before joining St. Thomas.

Carissa Staiano was named Champion of Character by the Sun Conference for the 2009-2010 season.  Staiano is an active participant on campus and throughout the community.  Although this award is based on character off the court, Staiano averages 8.96 ppg and 3.46 spg.

We will be providing Live Stats for the 2nd Round Conference Tournament game, as the ladies take on Fla. Memorial at 7 PM.  The link is underneath the Schedule on the right-hand side of the Women's Basketball page.

Four Bobcats scored in double figures, including Carissa Staiano (12), Nickerline Montina (12), Brianna Rodriguez (12), and Alexandria Vanterpool (11). Staiano had a great game across the board with 9 steals, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds.  The ladies improve to 19-8 on the season.

STU will face Fla. Memorial Friday night at 7 PM on the Lions home floor.  The Bobcats split the regular season matchups, 1-1, with a loss on Jan. 2 76-68 and a win on Jan. 30 63-53.
