LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Bobcat Baseball team traveled to Warner this weekend for a 3-game series. The Bobcats lost Friday night and were set back by poor weather Saturday, so the final games were played Sunday afternoon. STU went 1-2 on the weekend and fall to 7-11 on the season (3-3 TSC).

The Bobcats struggle to get the bats going Friday, after surrendering 5 runs in the first two innings. STU scored in the 5th and 6th but gave up 3 more runs in the bottom of the 6th and the deficit was too much to overcome. Marlon Pascual and Nestor Rincon each recorded an RBI, while Michael Arostegui got the loss giving up 7 earned runs in five and a third innings.

In the first game Sunday, STU once again found themselves down early. Miguel Hernandez gave up 8 runs in three and two-thirds innings, although only 5 were earned. The Bobcats only had 5 hits in the game and lost 11-1.

The Bobcats finally got some offense in the final game of the series, and scored 14 runs on 14 hits. STU had a huge 3rd inning that included 7 runs, putting them up 8-0. Jeff Lara pitched a great game, giving up 2 runs on 24 batters faced through six innings. Stephen Merino and Frank Suarez led the Bobcats with 4 RBIs apiece. Merino had a home run and 2 doubles in the game.

The Bobcats will go to Nova Wednesday for a 6 PM game.
