MEN’S AND WOMEN’S HOOPS MOVIN’ ON UP

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The St. Thomas men's and women's basketball teams continue to climb up the national NAIA Division II rankings.  The men's team (13-6, 6-1) moved up five spots from No. 21 to No. 16 in the latest ranking released Monday. The women's team (16-4, 6-0) moved up one position to No. 13, STU's highest ranking this year.

Men's basketball is on a 12-game win streak, the longest active winning streak in NAIA DII. The win streak began on December 1 and includes four wins over NCAA teams.  The Bobcats last loss was all the way back on Nov. 26 at No. 2 Northwood.   Since the Northwood loss, the Bobcats were a perfect 8-0 in Dec. and are 4-0 thus far in Jan.  STU's last two wins have come against ranked opponents.

Women's basketball has started the New Year with a perfect 6-0 start in Sun Conference play.  The Bobcat women's team has been ranked in four consecutive Top 25 polls and in five of the seven polls this season.

The men's team returns to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. vs. backyard rival Florida Memorial at the Fernandez Family Center.  The women's team visits Florida Memorial in its next game on Saturday at 4 p.m.
