BOBCATS CRUISE TO ANOTHER CONFERENCE WIN AFTER AN INCREDIBLE 25-0 SCORING TO START GAME

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Spurred by an incredible 25-0 scoring run to open the game, the St. Thomas men's basketball team defeated Webber International 98-58 in a Sun Conference matchup Saturday night at the Fernandez Family Center.  With the win, 19th ranked St. Thomas (13-3, 3-0) remained undefeated and in a tie for first place in the Sun Conference.  Webber International dropped to 7-7 overall and 2-2 in league play.
 
The game opened with what is believed to be a school-record for the most consecutive points scored by St. Thomas to open a game.   A jump shot by Kevin Hincapie with 10:25 remaining in the first half made the score 25-0.  Webber International then finally got on the scoreboard for the first time all night at the 10:06 mark in the first half.  In total, the 25-0 run lasted 9:54.
 
The Bobcats followed that up with a 19-6 run to give STU its biggest lead of the half at 44-8 with 4:27 left in the opening period.  After taking a 53-25 lead into halftime, the Bobcats continued to lead the game handily throughout the second half.
 
Forward John Nunnally led all scorers with a career-best 21 points on nine-of-13 shooting.  Guard Dylan O'Sullivan shot seven-of-ten for 19 points and dished out eight assists.  Center Demonte' Simpson scored 19 points in just 20 minutes, also on seven-of-ten shooting.  Hincapie scored 16 points and scored 10 of STU's first 12 points during STU's opening run.
 
As a team, the Bobcats shot 63% from the field, including 78% on three-pointers.  Zakary Hackett shot three-for-three from beyond the arc, while Nunnally and Hincapie each hit two threes as well.
 
St. Thomas returns to action with another conference game on its home floor on Wednesday vs. Warner.  The Sun Conference tilt begins at 7 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
