MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – In a thrilling back-and-forth contest that featured 12 ties and 10 lead changes,  Edward Waters (6-4) defeated St. Thomas (5-5) 77-72 in double overtime Monday night at The Athlete's Meals Classic. 

Down by two, EWC's Charles-Eddie Smith was foul while shooting a three-pointer with one second left in regulation.  Sheppard made the first two of his three free throw attempts to send the game into overtime, tied 62-62.

The teams traded the lead in the first overtime and remained tied 68-68 the second overtime period where the Tigers outscored the Bobcats 9-4 to secure the win.

EWC's Ocean Maddox led all scorers with 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds.  Also scoring in double figures for the Tigers were Darion Green with 17 points and Dontay Sheppard with 13.

Lorel Beckford had a career high 15 rebounds and 16 points en route to a double-double for the Bobcats, but fouled out before the end of regulation.   Chuck Becton came off the bench to score 17 points.

The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. when they take on fifth-ranked (NAIA DII) Bethel in the Athlete's Meals Classic at the Fernandez Family Center.
