Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Northwood defeated St. Thomas 94-82 in The Sun Conference Championship game on Tuesday night at the Fernandez Family Center.  The Seahawks were led by tournament MVP Chris Solomon who scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds.  Fred Mattison scored 23 points and Jake Lockhart added 17 for the tournament champions.

St. Thomas was led by Khaalis Coppock-Bey (20 pts) and All-Tournament team selection Davorn Bryant who scored 18 points in the defeat.  STU's Demonte' Simpson led all players with 17 rebounds.

The Bobcats held a 10-9 lead early in the first half, but it was all Northwood for the remainder of the contest.  NU outscored STU 43-22 for the remainder of the half and took a 52-32 lead into the intermission.

Northwood continued to keep a big lead throughout the second half, building its biggest lead of 24 points with 12:26 to play. 

As regular season conference champion, St. Thomas had already automatically qualified for the NAIA National Championships. Northwood joins STU as an automatic qualifier as conference tournament champion.
