HIALEAH, Fla. – St. Thomas (8-2) defeated Alice Lloyd (4-8) by a final score of 81-75 in a Saturday afternoon matchup at the Bucky Dent Gymnasium. The Bobcats were in control of the outcome of the game throughout, but that didn't stop the Eagles from keeping the score close.
The first half was tight between the Bobcats and the Eagles. With the Bobcats down 9-10,
Kristers Zeidaks made back-to-back three pointers to give St. Thomas a crucial early edge over Alice Lloyd.
Timothy Sada added his own three pointer to put the Bobcats ahead 38-34 going into the half.
In the second half, St. Thomas won the turnover battle against Alice Lloyd, with the Bobcats producing just four turnovers compared to the Eagles' seven.
Raheem Bowman had an exceptional second half, picking up 10 boards, 14 points, and two steals.
The top overall performers for St. Thomas included Bowman and Zeidaks who both had double-doubles. Zeidaks was the leading scorer for the Bobcats with 26 points, going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, while adding 10 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Bowman led all players with 16 boards, while tallying 22 points, two blocks, and three steals.
Mikon Hewitt was also a key component in the Bobcats' victory with a team leading 11 assists.Â
