BOBCATS DROP SECOND GAME OF STU CLASSIC

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- St. Thomas (9-4) dropped its second match of the STU Classic to the visiting West Virginia Tech (9-5) by a final score of 80-83.

The Bobcats and the Golden Bears brought a competitive fight to the match as the first half ended in favor of the Bobcats 42-38. A four-point lead proved to be just enough to get the home team to the locker room with a slight cushion but WVUT ensured that they wouldn't go down without a fight.

The second half had West Virginia Tech dominate as they went from a mere 42.9% shooting in the first half to 75% in the second. This ultimately boosted the visitors past the Bobcats as they took the second half 45-38.

Although St. Thomas lost, four players scored in double figures and as a team earned 10 steals on the night.

Notable numbers on the night came from Mikhail Rolle (18 points, one block and three steals) and Darwin Trotman (18 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals). A game-high of seven assists came from senior Mikon Hewitt.

The Bobcats will be back in action at home on Friday, December 29 at 7 p.m. against Talladega at the Fernandez Family Center.

This game marks STU's first game of the Shula's Hotel Classic.
