MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. - St. Thomas University's eSports team (3-2 [11-12]) was swept 0-3 by Auburn University on Monday night from the eSports lab in the Fernandez Family Center.

This was the first time this eSports season that the Bobcats were swept by an opposing team, however the teams regional tournament hopes are still alive with two matches to go. In order to qualify for the regional tournament, St. Thomas must win 15-total games of "HearthStone" or win five-matches. The team currently sits at 79th out of 141-teams in the South region and with four-game wins can clinch a berth in regionals.

At the beginning of each match, each team is allowed to ban one of the others decks. As a result of miscommunication, the Bobcats had to drop the first two-games and start out the match down two. Winner of the match is determined in the best of five-games. As STU tried to bounce back from the deficit they went with their control deck to take on Auburn's aggro deck. When dealing with these types of decks head to head, the game is determined within the first eight turns. Unfortunately, for the Bobcats they did were unable to be successful in these turns and ran out of minions to defend their Hunter as they were going against Auburn's Warlock.

This was a tough lost for the team as they had to battle behind an 0-2 deficit and unable to climb back into the match.

St. Thomas will be back in action again, next Monday, November 5th from the eSports lab in the Fernandez Family Center. The stream can be found on
