BROWN LEADS BOBCATS TO TSC WIN OVER NIGHTHAWKS

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. – St. Thomas University's Men's Basketball (3-5, 1-2 TSC) defeated Thomas University (5-3, 3-1 TSC), 76-67 in Sun Conference action from the Fernandez Family Center on Saturday evening.

Phil Saunders knocked in a three-point bucket to give STU an early 10-8 lead over the Nighthawks, just five minutes into the game. The Bobcats offense remained well-balanced, as Kheron Millwood, Antoine Joe, Daejour Adderley, Justin Brown and Aaron Dutcher all contributed to open a ten-point advantage over TU. Thomas University rallied to cut the deficit to just six, before Nick Strawter nailed a clutch three-point basket to get the lead back to ten-points with under two minutes remaining in the half. The Nighthawks finished the half with a 9-0 run to head into the break, trailing STU 32-31.

STU maintained their high-energy play on the offensive end, building a six-point lead over TU as Saunders added another bucket. Following the media timeout, Fotios Malelis knocked in a three-pointer to give the Bobcats a nine-point advantage, five minutes into the second half. The two Sun Conference opponents, traded buckets over the next nine minutes as Thomas even cut the St. Thomas lead to just one, as Joe made another of his team-high four three-point buckets to get the lead back to four. Minutes later, Malelis added two-points to bring the Bobcat lead to nine, 61-52, at the two-minute mark to put the "dagger" into the Nighthawk winning hopes.

STU knocked in all of their free throw attempts in the final minute to seal the 76-67 Sun Conference win and improve to 2-1 in Conference play.

St. Thomas returns to the Fernandez Family Center on Thursday, December 6th to take on Keiser University as part of a double-header with the STU Women's Basketball team. The Men's game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
