ADDERLEY'S GAME-WINNER PUTS STU OVER TU

THOMASVILLE, GA. (January 11, 2020) - St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball (11-3, 4-3 TSC) bounced back to earn a Sun Conference win, defeating Thomas University (5-10, 2-5 TSC) thrillingly, 72-71 on Saturday evening from the TU Gymnasium.

  • Gilbert began the game with a hot-hand, scoring five consecutive points as STU opened a 5-0 advantage.
  • An alley-oop from Floyd, off an Adderley assist, extended the STU lead to 8-2.
  • Brown recorded five straight points of his own, pushing the lead to 11-4.
  • St. Thomas ran off a 13-0 run, spanning 3:39, taking a commanding 21-4 lead over Thomas.
  • Nick Strawter maintained a double-digit advantage, sinking a three-pointer., Giving STU a 32-14 lead with 5:09 remaining in the first half. 
  • Thomas closed the half on a 10-0 run, heading into the break trailing St. Thomas 36-34.
  • After Thomas tied the game to open the second half, Brown recorded four consecutive points to reclaim the Bobcat lead, 40-37.
  • Another five-point swing by Brown, once again reclaimed the STU advantage, 50-47.
  • Following the ten-minute media timeout, Antoine Joe sank a three-pointer to push the Bobcats in front, 53-49.
  • With four minutes remaining, Adderley made a lay-up to give St. Thomas their most significant advantage of the second half, 62-58.
  • Thomas tied the game, 64-64, with an "and-one" of their own, with 2:48 remaining in the game.
  • With less than a minute remaining, a clutch "and-one" from Brown gave the Bobcats a 70-69 lead.
  • TU sank two free throws to take a 71-70 lead, with fifteen-seconds remaining, as Coach DP Harris called a timeout.
  • Following the break, Harris drew up a play for Adderley to become a hero, Adderley sank the game-winning lay-up with three seconds on the clock, as STU won 72-71.
