MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 19, 2021) - St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball (5-6, 4-5 TSC) lost the "Battle of Miami Gardens" in heart-breaking fashion, 93-92 in overtime, to Florida Memorial (5-8, 5-5 TSC) on Tuesday evening from the Fernandez Family Center.

- After falling behind briefly, 3-0, Waite knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game in the opening minutes.
- Waite's three-pointer started a 9-0 run to open the game for STU, capped off by a Jahsim Floyd lay-up.
- Florida Memorial took a 14-13 advantage with 12-minutes remaining in the first half with a jump-shot.
- Pace set-up a Floyd fastbreak dunk in transition as the Bobcats reclaimed the lead, 19-17.
- Waite continued his dominant first half by converting an and-one and tying the game 24-24 with 7:25 left in the half.
- Back-to-back three-point makes from Antoine Joe gave STU a 36-34 lead.
- Joe recorded the final five points of the first half for St. Thomas, including another three-pointer, to send the game into the break with the Bobcats leading, 45-38.
- Waite scored the first points of the second half for STU, finishing another and-one, as St. Thomas extended the lead to 48-42.
- Waite and Pace each sank a three-pointer to keep the STU lead at 58-54.
- Following the second-half media timeout, FMU took a 61-58 advantage.
- Floyd ended a 7-2 run by the Lions with another dunk, assisted by Rogers.
- Heading into the final five minutes of regulation, STU trailed 74-62.
- Waite converted an and-one and Joe followed with another three-point make to put the score at 75-70 with three minutes remaining.
- Â Waite tied the game 77-77 with another clutch bucket, this time a three-pointer.
- Ray put STU ahead 82-80 in the final 20-seconds, but the Lions tied the game 82-82 to send the "Battle of Miami Gardens" into overtime.
- The overtime period was a back-and-forth affair as Christian Dejean gave the Bobcats a 92-90 lead with a free throw.Â
