ROGERS SPARKS STU TO WIN IN TSC GAME OF THE WEEK

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 2, 2021) - St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball (4-4, 3-3 TSC) claimed victory over Ave Maria University (9-5, 3-2 TSC) in the Sun Conference Game of the Week 71-65 on Saturday evening from the Fernandez Family Center.

  • The Bobcats raced out to an early 7-2 lead over the Gyrenes, with Rogers capping off the run with a mid-range jump shot.
  • Richmond knocked down a three-pointer to extend the Bobcat advantage to 10-6.
  • AMU took its first lead of the game at the 12:44 mark in the first half, 16-15.
  • Back-to-back three-pointers from Ahman Ellington and Pace put STU in front, 23-16, following the media timeout.
  • Russell converted consecutive lay-ups to extend the Bobcat advantage to 31-23.
  • Ave Maria closed the first half on a 15-8 run, sending the game into halftime with the Bobcats in front, 39-38.
