BOBCATS TOO BIG FOR THOMAS, DOMINATING THE BOARDS

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (December 4, 2021) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team (4-5, 2-3 SUN) had another dominate performance in Sun Conference play. The Bobcats defeated the Nighthawks of Thomas University (6-8, 1-4 SUN) on Saturday afternoon from the Fernandez Family Center, 84-68.

  • St. Thomas picked up their second straight Sun Conference victory and sweep the Georgia opponents at home.
  • The first half saw nine lead changes and five ties. 
  • The Bobcats dominated the boards 20-8 in the front 20 minutes.
  • Augustus Stone led the half with nine-points shooting 50-percent from the field.
  • The second half was all STU outscoring TU by almost 20-points at 47-28.
  • James Harris III tied the game with the opening basket knocking down a corner three.
  • Stone and Russell do what they do best turning it up in the second half both scoring double-digit figures.
  • The glass game continued to be lopsided in favor of STU 24-0.

The boards were dominated by STU in a 20+ margin, 48-24.

Stone has his third straight double-digit point performance and fifth of the season in seven games played.

Russell collects his fourth double-double performance and second straight with 11-rebounds and 18-points.

Four Bobcats scored in double-digits: Stone (22), Russel (18), Parker (16), Harris III (10).

STU shot 83-percent from the charity stripe, 19-for-23.

Bobcats shot 50-percent from behind the arc the best of the season.
