BOBCATS EARN ROAD WIN OVER NIGHTHAWKS

THOMASVILLE, GA. (February 11, 2020) - St. Thomas University (STU) (9-9, 8-8 TSC) defeated Thomas University (8-14, 8-8 TSC) 79-69 in Sun Conference action on Thursday evening.

Game Notes

  • Back-to-back baskets from Whitaker and Floyd gave STU an early 4-2 lead over the Nighthawks.
  • Russell followed with two consecutive makes of his own, extending the STU lead to 8-6.
  • Waite netted a three-point make, padding the St. Thomas advantage.
  • Seven Ferguson made each of his first three-point attempts to give the Bobcats a 19-12 lead.
  • Antoine Joe recorded his first three points of the game midway through the first half and put the score at 22-16.
  • Five minutes later, TU tied the game 25-25.
  • Consecutive makes from Floyd, reclaimed the lead for St. Thomas, 33-30.
  • STU went into the halftime break leading 34-33.
  • TU took the lead in the opening minutes of the second half, but it was short-lived. Russel once again converted back-to-back opportunities giving STU a 38-35 advantage.
  • Quinterious Jones scored four straight points to extend the lead to 47-40.
  • The Nighthawks cut its deficit to one, when Kheron Millwood finished a putback to put the score at 49-46.
  • Waite knocked down another three-pointer, giving STU a 52-49 lead at the halfway point of the second half.
  • With less than five minutes remaining in the game, TU took a 63-61 lead.
  • Rogers tied the game with a lay-up, which was the last time Thomas led for the remainder of the game.
  • STU closed the game on a 16-6 run, over the final 4:28 to earn a road Sun Conference win, 79-69.
