BOBCATS TOUGH FOUGHT BATTLE JUST FALLS SHORT AGAINST UFL

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 12, 2022) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team (6-7, 3-4 SUN) dropped a tough non-conference contest from the Fernandez Family Center, on Wednesday evening, to the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles (8-12), 73-71.

Game Notes
  • The Bobcats opened on an 8-2 run to start the game.
  • Fort Lauderdale tied it up at 18 all with 11:20 left in the first half and used that as turning point to take the lead in the next two possessions.
  • St. Thomas regained the lead at 23-22 with just a little over six minutes on the clock thanks to a D'Andre Johnson and-one.
  • The game continued to go back and forth with Fort Lauderdale being up by one at the half at 34-33.
  • STU owned the boards game with a tilt of 27-19 over UFL.
  • There were nine lead changes and an even split of time with the lead in the first half.

  • This is a season-high in points for Russell and career-high in rebounds for the Jacksonville native.
  • Parker worked his way back to 20+ points again scoring 22 for his 11th double-digit game of the season, fourth 20-plus.
  • Johnson was one point away from a double-double with nine-points and 14-rebounds. The 14 boards were his season high.
