Bobcats and Lions Set to Tip Off for Round Two of Battle of Miami Gardens

1/20/2023 11:37:00 AM

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 20, 2023)- It's been a quiet week for the Bobcats, but tomorrow the Fernandez Family Center will be rocking when the Lions of Florida Memorial stop by. It will be the second meeting this season for both teams, with STU winning the first one.

The Bobcats have had some ups and downs and are 5-3 in Sun Conference play, and 16-4 overall. The Lions however are 1-7 in Sun Conference play, and 10-9 overall. This isn't exactly what the Lions hoped for this season and will most definitely be hungry for a win on the road tomorrow.

Coming into this game, STU is averaging 85 points per game, shooting .475 from inside the three-point line, and .397 from behind the line. The Bobcats also are averaging nearly a 17-point margin against opponents. On the other hand, Florida Memorial has averaged 87 points per game, but it's clear their defense hasn't been up to par with their point margin only being 1.2 against opponents. The Lions are shooting .452 inside the three-point line, and .344 from behind the arch.

Some key players to be on the lookout for the Bobcats are Milton Matthews, Fred Mulbah, and Joshua Thrower. Milton Matthews has had an insane season thus far, leading the Bobcats in scoring. Matthews is one three away from 60 on the year, and 7 points away from 300 total. Fred Mulbah is quiet with scoring, but has eyes in the back of his head. Don't sleep on him though because he will also drop a quiet 20 if you aren't paying attention. And last D'andre Johnson is always consistent for the Bobcats, but true freshman from Houston, Texas Joshua Thrower has really proven himself early and is a menace under the basket.

At the end of the day, a rivalry game is a rivalry game, anything can happen. Every time these two teams meet, its action packed. Expect this to be no difference, as the Lions fight for their season, and the Bobcats fight to get to the next level.
