Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 13, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team came up just short to the #6 seeded Tougaloo. The Bobcats led by nine points four different times, but the Bulldogs depth on the bench was the difference. This was the first time the Bobcats made it to the round of sixteen, and was the first time the program won more than one game in the NAIA Tournament.

The Bobcats came out fast, going up 11-2 just three minutes into the game. After some persistent Bulldog offense, they crawled their way back into it to make it 13-10. A
Dalon Dean three ball would extend the STU lead by six. The next Bobcat possession
Fred Mulbah put up a jumper and drained it, and the STU offense was clicking early.

Tougaloo would get to within five, but
Fred Mulbah worked his way inside for the easy lay in, to end the small Bulldog run. Two minutes passed with no scoring from either side, but
James Harris III worked his way to the line, getting both to fall. The Bulldogs didn't back down all night and got back to within two points with just over seven minutes to play in the first half.

With six minutes left in the half, Tougaloo tied it at 24. Right after however
Milton Matthews found himself unattended behind the arch and drained it. The Bulldogs were able to hit a three to tie the game, but nearing the end of the half,
Justyn Rogers drilled a three which would result in a 35-32 lead at the half.

Dalon Dean hit a three to open the second half, and it looked like the Bobcats came out even more energized than they did to start the game.
Fred Mulbah gave STU a nine-point lead early in the second half. The Bulldogs would go on a run, and cut the lead in half to make it a four-point lead.
Milton Matthews ended the drought for the Bobcats with a shot from behind the arch.

A minute of silence was ended by
D'Andre Johnson who was fouled, making the free throws.
James Harris III was able to get to a loose ball and get a layup to go in, to go up eight points. Tougaloo was tough however and was able to tie the game at 50 with ten minutes remaining in the game. The Bobcats and Bulldogs then went back and forth, but the Bulldogs were able to take a two-point lead.

After receiving a pass from
Dalon Dean,
D'Andre Johnson drained one just inside the line to tie it up. The next possession,
D'Andre Johnson was fouled once again, getting one to fall to reclaim the lead 55-54. The Tougaloo bench proved to be deep, and they took their biggest lead of the night (five-points). Nearing the end, the Bobcats got to within four, but they would not get any closer as the Bulldogs took the win 74-68.
