Bobcats Best the Buccaneers at Home

The St. Thomas University men's basketball team bested the University of the Virgin Islands Buccaneers team by a score of 88-77 on Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats beat the "Sunday scaries" by defeating the Buccaneers on their home court, thanks mostly to a strong second half.

The first half was mostly tight, with the Buccaneers and Bobcats trading leads, with the Buccaneers having their largest lead of 7.

The Bobcats' defense then tightened up in the latter part of the first half, and went back into the locker room with a 43-39 lead at the half.

The physical nature of the game saw the Virgin Islands repetitively foul and get physical, but St. Thomas kept their composure and started to get it going on the offensive end.

The win can attributed to strong offensive performances from two key players:

Junior Colin Nutter posted an impressive double - double, with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while his fellow teammate, senior Sean Shore, had a double - double of his own with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Junior Esteban Lluberes also contributed with some big points (28) to get the momentum going for the home team.

The Bobcats will travel to Kingsport, Tennessee after Thanksgiving for "The Show" tournament.

Their two opponents are to be determined, with scheduled games on November 29, and 30th.
