MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 20, 2024) – The St. Thomas (STU) Men's Basketball team returns to the Fernandez Family Center tomorrow, to host the Keiser Seahawks in the second to last game of the regular season. The Bobcats lead the Sun Conference, and sit at 19-6 and 9-3 in conference. Patrick Crarey is looking for his second straight 20-win season as the front man for St. Thomas. Lastly just want to thank the seniors
Jordan Hernandez,
Milton Matthews,
Kyle Feldman, and
Bryant Tallie.
In the history of the matchup the Seahawks have gotten the better of the Bobcats, being 21-18 overall. However, inside the Fernandez Family Center it has been even at 9-9. In total, the Bobcats average 74. 74 points against Keiser and last game secured the victory in West Palm Beach 100-93. That was arguably the turning point for the Bobcats, as it was the beginning of their now eight game win streak.
The last matchup between the two,
Milton Matthews was on another level. He had 31 points, six rebounds, was 7-13 from behind the arch, and 9-16 from the floor.
Josh Taylor also had a great game with 24 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
Jordan Hernandez and
Cearius Warren also had double digits for STU, with 16 and Warren with 12.
Last game against Ave Maria the Bobcats struggled early, and pulled out the victory late with a clutch three by
Jordan Hernandez and a layup by
Anthony Harris to end it.
Josh Taylor once again made a living from the jump shot and ended the game with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Daniel Ogoro was also crucial in the second half comeback, finishing with 17 points and seven rebounds. As a team, the Bobcats were 33 for 67 from the floor, 9 for 20 from three, and 7 for 12 from the charity stripe.
Keiser comes into this game second in the Sun Conference standings with an 8-4 record. They have come alive in the back half of conference season just like STU has. They have won four in a row, defeating Southeastern, Ave Maria, Coastal Georgia, and Warner last game. They have all been commanding wins for the Seahawks, outscoring their opponents 326 to 282 in those four games.
