The Bobcats are set to compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II, with their inaugural season beginning in the 2026–27 academic year.

The launch of Men's Hockey marks the 17th new sport added under President Armstrong's leadership. Since his installation as STU's 10th President,  the STU Athletic Department have expanded their athletic offerings to include Beach Volleyball, Men's and Women's Bowling, Flag Football, Football, Women's Golf, Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Rugby, Men's and Women's Swimming, Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field, Men's Volleyball, and Men's Wrestling.

"We are elated to bring hockey to Miami Gardens and the region," said President Armstrong. "With the success of our two-time Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers, excitement for hockey is at an all-time high in South Florida. Bobcat Hockey will build on that momentum."

"We are thrilled to add Men's Hockey to our Athletic Department," said Vice President of Athletics Bill Rychel. "Our student athletes will now have a unique opportunity to earn a world class degree while competing in a sport they love at a top level."

The Bobcats will play and practice at the Baptist Health IcePlex, a state-of-the-art facility featuring two NHL regulation size ice rinks, a curved video wall, food and beverage kiosks, and 11 locker rooms.

The ACHA serves as the national governing body promoting college hockey across the United States. It provides a competitive platform that allows student athletes to continue their hockey careers while maintaining a focus on academic excellence.

The addition of Men's Hockey also comes as St. Thomas University proudly announced its new status as an Official Partner of the NHL's reigning champions, the Florida Panthers, for the 2025–26 season.
