The St. Thomas University Men's Basketball team dropped a thriller on Wednesday night, falling in a close contest against Warner by a final score of 81-85.
Despite the loss, Sean Shore scored 13 points in the game to secure his place in the history books by reaching 1,000 points in his collegiate career.
Despite a valiant effort from Daniel Ogoro, who led the Bobcats with 19 points, St. Thomas couldn't overcome a dominant performance from Warner's Blaize Darling Jr., who poured in a game-high 34 points while grabbing nine rebounds.
The Bobcats struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 25% (8-of-32) from three-point range, while Warner capitalized on their trips to the free-throw line, converting 80.8% (21-of-26) of their foul shots.
STU kept the game close throughout, trailing by just one point at halftime (27-26). The second half remained tightly contested, with the Bobcats finding offensive rhythm through Cearius Warren (17 points, six rebounds) and Noah Tovar (13 points, seven rebounds).
The game headed into overtime tied at 71, thanks to a Daniel Ogoro basket with a second left oi regulation, but Warner executed down the stretch, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field in the extra period. Key free throws by Jack Voth (22 points, 9-of-11 FT) sealed the win for the Royals.
Zach Moss's squad will look to bounce back in their next match up against familiar foe Florida Memorial University, on Saturday, February 15.
Tip off is set for 4PM at the Florida Memorial Wellness Center.
