STU Quartet Earn Conference Players Of The Week

Miami Gardens, Fla. – After guiding their teams to undefeated weeks, Matheus Collares (Setter) and Kaelen Ingram (Attacker) from the 15th-ranked St. Thomas University Men's Volleyball Team were recognized by the Appalachian Athletic Conference while Kaitlynn Martinez and Anna Toon from the 19th-ranked Softball Team swept the Sun Conference Playera of the Week.

Collares earned his second Setter of the Week nod after averaging 10.57 assists over seven sets during a 2-0 week for the Bobcats, adding 12 digs and two total blocks. His 10.62 assists per set rate currently ranks fourth in the NAIA.

Highlighted by a 22-kill showing, Ingram averaged 4.57 kills per set during a 2-0 week. Against Talladega, Ingram averaged 5.50 kills while hitting .667 with four service aces and seven digs.

Recording at least one hit in every one of the Bobcats' four contests against Columbia International University, Martinez hit .500 for the week with six runs scored, five RBI, three doubles and one home run. In the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rams she went 2-3 with both her hits going for extra bases via a home run and double, boasting two RBI and two runs scored. On the season, Martinez is hitting .409 and riding a five-game hitting streak.

Toon went an undefeated 3-0 in the circle last week, allowing no runs to score over 13.1 innings while striking out 14 batters. She started two games, one in each of the Bobcats' doubleheaders against CIU while coming in to toss the final 2.0 innings of a 3-2 victory in the second outing off Thursday's twinbill. On the year Toon is 6-0 with a 1.15 ERA in 30.1 innings of work while boasting 34 strikeouts.
