Kingsport, Tenn. - Making their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship debut on Thursday afternoon in the Quarterfinals, the seventh-ranked nationally and top-seeded St. Thomas Men's Volleyball team held eighth-seeded Truett McConnell to a .000 hitting percentage while boasting a .429 clip in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-14) victory. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Set 1 – The Bobcats scored the opening four points of the match and never trailed in the first stanza, fending off a rally by the Bears midway through the frame that got them within four at 16-12 behind a 5-1 stretch that pushed STU's lead to 21-13. 

• Set 2 – After splitting the initial four points of the second set the Bobcats scored three-straight to take a 4-2 lead while holding Truett McConnell to just one run of consecutive points in the frame to maintain the advantage. 

• Set 3 – STU quickly created a double-digit lead in the third set behind a 15-5 start, keeping the separation above eight for the rest of the match.  

NOTEWORTHY: 

• Kaelen Ingram paced the offense behind 16 kills on a .750 hitting percentage on top of four assisted blocks. 

• Matheus Collares dished out 37 assists. 

• Victor Monaco boasted nine digs. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

• STU finished the match with 41 kills on a .429 hitting percentage versus 18 kills on a .000 clip for the Bears. 

• St. Thomas served eight aces versus three for Truett McConnell. 

• The Bobcats logged one solo block and 12 assisted, Truett McConnell recorded one solo and four assisted.  

• STU held a 37-14 advantage in digs.
