Miami Gardens, Fla. – St. Thomas University's Head Men's Basketball Coach Zach Moss announced the hire of Jacob Shaw as the program's Associate Head Coach. He joins the Bobcats with unrivaled knowledge of South Florida hoops, founding MiamiDadeBBHoops.com which covers high school basketball across Miami-Dade County and the state of Florida on top of nearly 20 seasons coaching locally at the collegiate and high school level.

Shaw will be involved with all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development, and scouting.

Shaw returns to the Sun Conference after serving as an Assistant Coach at Florida Memorial University during the 2021-22 season. He played an integral role in FMU's 2022 Sun Conference Championship run that ended with the Lions winning the title and advancing to the NAIA National Tournament. Florida Memorial ranked sixth in the country in blocks per game during the 2021-22 season behind a 5.0 average while adding 41.5 rebounds which ranked 16th.

Before transitioning to the collegiate level, Shaw was the head boys' basketball coach at Miami Beach Senior High School from 2013 to 2021. During his nine-year tenure, he guided the team to two regional finals and two district championship appearances. His program produced 26 collegiate athletes, including two NCAA Division I players, one of whom was ranked among the top five high school players in the nation.

Earlier in his career, Shaw coached the girls' basketball team at Miami Beach Senior High from 2008 to 2012. Under his leadership, the team reached three regional finals and won three district titles. Two of his players advanced to NCAA Division I programs, and 13 others continued at various collegiate levels.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Shaw was an All-City standout at Detroit Pershing High School, helping his team compile an 88–9 record and win four consecutive Eastside Conference championships.

He continued his playing career at Bismarck State College (N.D.), where he was regarded as one of the top junior college players in the country. He later transferred to the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), leading the team to the NAIA Final Four in 2004. He holds a bachelor's degree in wellness.

Shaw currently resides in Miami, Florida, while his parents, Everin and Taryn Crook, and siblings—Larrance, Arkishi, Tabitha, Tamara, Tynikki, and Whitney—remain in Michigan.
