Miami Gardens, Fla. – St. Thomas University's Vice President of Athletics Bill Rychel announced the hiring of Sia Sage Benson to increase the Bobcats' presence in the community as the Manager of Community Relations. 

On top of community outreach, Benson will work with STU to enhance the gameday experience and get the student body more engaged with home athletic events. 

"Benson will be a great addition to our department," Rychel said. "She is passionate about making a positive impact for our student-athletes. I believe she will do an outstanding job creating a great experience for our students and community." 

A native of South Florida, Benson returns to the Sunshine State after earning her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Arizona State in May 2025 with a Sports Law Focus. She interned for the City of Miami Gardens Office of the City Attorney and coached a youth soccer team while maintaining an Academic Scholarship all four years. 

No stranger to helping her community, Benson has volunteered for three community outreach programs in the Back-To-School BackPack Program, Book Drive For Teach America and Broward Outreach Center.
