One of the newest members of the St. Thomas Men's Basketball team, Kaleb Myers, is living out a childhood dream.  A native of Bluefield, Nicaragua, the 6'8 sophomore was selected as a member of the Nicaragua National team to compete in the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup.

"This means a lot to me," Kaleb said. "My dream as a kid has been to play for my national team, and to make the dream that much better Nicaragua is the host nation. It's a blessing to be able to play in front of all my family and friends."

Kaleb enters the AmeriCup having spent the last two years playing basketball in the states. After attending the prestigious Miami Prep School where he was mentored by Art Alvarez, Kaleb joined the collegiate ranks at Arizona Western College. While playing for the Matadors, Kaleb averaged. 10.2 points on a .677 field goal percentage that ranked in the top 10 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 on top of 6.2 rebounds with 3.4 coming off the offensive glass which ranked in the top 30 nationally.

Playing with the Nicaragua team this summer, Kaleb has had no adjustment period with the new level of competition. In their last friendly before the AmeriCup, Kaleb fell one rebound short of a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds.

"We are proud of Kaleb," Head Coach Zach Moss said. "He is everything we want in a Bobcat, for his home country of Nicaragua to recognize that, shows how special this young man is. I am excited to coach him and see his impact on our program."
