MIAMI GARDENS, FLA (JANUARY 3, 2026) - The St. Thomas University Bobcats men's basketball team earned an 87–76 victory over the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners in a hard-fought matchup, pulling away late behind strong interior play and free-throw shooting.
The game featured multiple momentum swings early, with the score tied seven times and the lead changing hands five times. Coastal Georgia shot efficiently in the first half, connecting on 56.3 percent of its field-goal attempts and building a lead as large as nine points midway through the opening period. Derrick "Mannie" Harris led the Mariners early with aggressive scoring in the paint, while Jeremiah Camara provided an offensive spark in limited minutes.
St. Thomas stayed within striking distance behind Kaleb Myers, who dominated the glass and finished at the rim. The Bobcats went into halftime trailing by just a small margin after both teams shot an even 50 percent from the field in the opening half.
The second half saw St. Thomas take control by attacking the basket and earning trips to the free-throw line. The Bobcats attempted 27 free throws after the break and converted 20 of them, which proved to be the difference as Coastal Georgia's shooting cooled to 37.5 percent in the final 20 minutes.
Myers delivered a standout performance for the Bobcats, finishing with a game-high 26 points and nine rebounds. Adrian Cruz added 21 points and seven assists while consistently creating offense for his teammates. Colin Nutter chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds, and Jacob Sterck provided a boost off the bench with 11 points, including three three-pointers.
St. Thomas also won the rebounding battle 42–29 and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 26 points off offensive rebounds. The Bobcats closed the game strong at the free-throw line to secure their largest lead in the final seconds.
For Coastal Georgia, Harris led the way with 14 points on efficient shooting, while Camara added 12 points. Thaddeus Burns contributed 10 points and five assists, but the Mariners struggled from beyond the arc in the second half, hitting just one three-pointer.
With the win, St. Thomas improves to 9-7 on the season and will look to continue their winning streak as they travel to Lakeland, Florida to take on Sun Conference rival Warner University on Saturday, January 10.
