BRUNSWICK, GA (JANUARY 31, 2026) - The St. Thomas University Bobcats men's basketball team came up short on the road, falling 85–81 to the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners on Saturday night.
St. Thomas battled throughout the contest and shot an efficient 52.6 percent from the field, but Coastal Georgia's balanced scoring and ability to capitalize on turnovers proved to be the difference.
Adrian Cruz led all scorers with a game-high 29 points, playing all 40 minutes and knocking down five three-pointers on 10-of-20 shooting. Noah Tovar added 14 points off the bench, while Kaleb Myers recorded a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 15 rebounds. Colin Nutter and Esteban Lluberes chipped in 10 points apiece for the Bobcats.
The Mariners built momentum early behind strong first-half shooting, taking an advantage into the break after shooting over 51 percent from the floor. Coastal Georgia pushed its lead to as many as 22 points in the second half before St. Thomas mounted a late rally.
St. Thomas outscored Coastal Georgia 37–32 after halftime and shot 60.7 percent from the field in the second half, trimming the deficit down the stretch. However, Coastal Georgia went 11-for-14 from the free-throw line in the second half to hold off the comeback attempt.
Coastal Georgia finished with five players scoring in double figures, led by Derrick Harris and Aamir Mack with 14 points each. The Mariners also held a 46–38 edge in points in the paint and forced 14 Bobcat turnovers, converting them into 18 points.
Despite the loss, St. Thomas showed resilience and depth, receiving 20 points from its bench and winning the rebounding battle 32–25. The Bobcats will look to regroup as they continue conference play as they host Southeastern University on Wednesday, February 4th.
