Bobcats Unable to Slow Fire in 92–68 Defeat

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA (FEBRUARY 4, 2026) - The St. Thomas University Bobcats men's basketball team fell 92–68 to the Southeastern University Fire on Wednesday night as the Fire shot efficiently from start to finish and controlled the game on both ends of the floor.

Southeastern jumped out early behind hot shooting in the first half, connecting on 58.6 percent from the field and 6-of-10 from three-point range to build a comfortable lead at the break. The Fire never trailed in the contest and continued to apply pressure in the second half, extending their advantage to as many as 27 points midway through the period.

St. Thomas was led offensively by Noah Tovar, who came off the bench to score a team-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting while adding four rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes. Adrian Cruz finished with 17 points, five assists, and two steals, while Kaleb Myers added 15 points and six rebounds.

Despite solid contributions from the Bobcats' bench, which accounted for 33 points, St. Thomas struggled to keep pace with Southeastern's efficiency. The Bobcats shot 41.4 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from beyond the arc, while also committing 14 turnovers that led to 21 Fire points.

Southeastern was paced by Jayson Nixon, who poured in a game-high 27 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-6 from three-point range. Mylo Santos added 19 points and five assists, while Nathan Mikkelson recorded a strong all-around performance with 16 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.

The Fire finished the game shooting 60 percent from the field and an impressive 66.7 percent from three-point range, while also winning the rebounding battle 36–27 and outscoring St. Thomas 46–36 in the paint.

St. Thomas will look to regroup and bounce back as conference play continues, while Southeastern improved its momentum with a wire-to-wire victory.

The Bobcats will have the weekend off as they look to host Warner University on Wednesday, February 11th.
