Fred Lymas has been named an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach, joining Head Coach Patrick E. Crarey II, at St. Thomas University. In his role, Lymas will handle scouting, player development, and community outreach.

Lymas joins STU from Avant Garde Academy, where he led the program to a 19-4 record, a district title, and an appearance in the Florida State tournament. 

Lymas reunites with Head Coach Crarey, having previously worked together at Washington Adventist University from 2009-13. During his time at WAU, Lymas was responsible for recruiting, coaching, player development, and scouting. The Shock made two consecutive trips to the USCAA Tournament under Crarey and Lymas.

After leaving WAU, Lymas came to South Florida and joined the staff at Barry University, where he coached from 2013-2016. In 2014-15, the Buccaneers went 25-6, ranked as high as second in the nation, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Additionally, Lymas has coached internationally, facilitating camps and clinics in Colombia, the Cayman Islands, and Aruba. 

Lymas played collegiately at Morgan State under Head Coach Butch Beard in 2005, before transferring to Shepherd University. While at SU, Lymas was a three-time captain, two-time team MVP, and ranks top-10 all-time in assists at Shepherd University. 

Lymas received his Bachelors in Social Work from Shepherd University in 2009, and earned a Master's degree in Social Work from Barry in 2013.Â
