Biography:
Carlos Flores officially joins the St.Thomas Track & Field program ahead of the 2023-24 season. Flores will be responsible for the oversight of the throws event group.
Prior to St.Thomas, Flores has 8 years of track & field experience at the collegiate & high school levels. Flores oversees the throws program at Belen Jesuit Prep & assists with the cross country team. At Belen since 2019, Flores coached 3 FHSAA State medalists with 5 FHSAA State qualifiers, contributing to 2 FHSAA State Runner-Up team finishes (2021,2023).
At the club level, while with Miami Elite Track Club & Panza Power Track Club, Flores has coached numerous medalist & qualifiers at FHSAA States & FLYRA States (middle school), along with USATF & AAU Nationals.
Before returning to Miami, Flores spent 2 years as an assistant track & field/cross country coach at the University of Mobile. During his time at University of Mobile, Flores developed 6 Southern States Athletics Conference Champions with 45 SSAC All-Conference Selections. Highlighted by a SSAC Conference Championship in 2016 & SSAC Field Athlete of the Year, SSAC Field Freshman of the Year, SSAC Conference Meet Leading Scorer, all in 2017. In his role as assistant, Flores aided in developing 7 NAIA All-Americans, 17 NAIA National Championship Qualifiers, and 2016 Indoor and 2016 Outdoor Long Jump NAIA National Champion.
As a collegiate athlete, Flores attended Loyola University New Orleans in New Orleans, LA. While competing at Loyola, Flores was named team captain and earned SSAC All-Conference honors in the shot put.
Off the track, Flores is a Realtor Associate with BHHS EWM Realty working out of the Pinecrest/Coral Gables.
