Head Coach, Brandon Slater is a PGA Associate Professional. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting and Mass Communication and Philosophy at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. While there, He played for the Yellow Jacket football team for 4 years and earned letterman honors his Junior and Senior Year.
He came to golf when he felt the call to coaching and started to train his golf game to get into a position to become a PGA Professional and pass the Player Ability Test (P.A.T)
Once he did that, his first coaching job was in Littleton, Colorado coaching the Heritage High School Girls Golf team and working at Cherry Hills Country Club and Broken Tee Golf Course. He spent one season there and then took the Head Women's Golf Coach position at his alma mater, Baldwin Wallace, in Berea, Ohio.Â
While at BW, Slater saw two players enter the Women's Golf record books. Brooke Newsome and Alana Smith both cracked the Top 25 in All-Time season scoring average during his tenure. He also coached Smith to 3 of BW's best individual rounds, including the Best round ever in Baldwin Wallace Women's Golf history.
His first year at St. Thomas, the Bobcat Men's team placed 2nd in the Webber Match Play tournament and placed multiple times in the top 10 as a team. The Men's team also jumped 7 spots in the NAIA rankings, from 39 to 32. Â
STU also had individual Player success as Tomas Borquez finished as a 2nd Team All-Sun Conference Player for 2025-2026 season
Coach Slater also has brought in record recruiting classes for both the Men's and Women's teams.Â
