BIOGRAPHY
Alexander Arrieta begins his fourth year as Associate Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving program at St. Thomas University in 2026-27. In his first three years in Miami, Arrieta has helped the Bobcats to it's first NAIA team national championship in school history (Men's Swimming, 2024) and back-to-back NAIA National Runner-Up finishes on the Women's Swimming & Diving Side (23-24, 24-25).
Year 3 (25-26) "RELENTLESS"
During the 2025-26 campaign, Coach Arrieta helped to guide both programs to a Top-5 finish in the NAIA, as well as a Sun Conference Runner-Up finish. The program finished with 15 First Team NAIA All-Americans. He guided Alessia Claassen to a National Title in the 400 yard Individual Medley.
Year 2 (24-25) "EXCELLENCE"
In his second season (2024-25) in Miami, Arrieta was elevated to the Associate Head Coach and Men's Recruiting Coordinator for the program. He helped the Bobcats to finish National Runner-Up for the second year in a row on the women's side. He guided Stella Warborn to a repeat National Title in the Women's 200-yard breastroke, lowering her own NAIA National Record in the process (2:12.25). She repeated as the 24-25 Sun Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year, sweeping all three of her individual events.
Year 1 (23-24) "ADELANTE"
In his first season at St. Thomas, Arrieta helped the Bobcats bring home their first team NAIA national championship in the school's 63-year history. The women also finished National Runner-Up, behind breakout freshman Stella Warborn, who broke the NAIA National Record in the women's 200-yard breastroke that was set in 1993 (2:14.18). Stella was named the Sun Conference Swimmer of the Year for sweeping all 3 of her individual events at the 2024 Sun Conference championship.
Before St. Thomas
Arrieta arrived to St. Thomas after serving a two-year stint with Midland University as a graduate assistant/interim head coach. He was involved with all aspects of the program from program design to recruiting for both teams.
