Christopher Tissot

Since taking over as Head Men’s Tennis Coach at Glendale College in August 2017, Tissot has established Glendale as one of the premier junior college tennis programs in California. His tenure has produced conference championships, state championship appearances, individual state champions, All-Americans, national tournament appearances, and numerous individual honors.

In 2026, Glendale College continued its run of success by reaching the team regional finals for the second time in three yearsand finishing 4th in the state. Glendale earned All-American in singles and finished 6th in the state, further highlighting the program’s ability to develop nationally recognized players.

The 2025 season brought another successful campaign, with Glendale finishing 5th in the state. Adam Ridaoui earned All-American honors, while Eduardo Oganesian received the ITA Sportsmanship of the Year Award. Tissot was also honored as the ITA Coach of the Year, recognizing his contributions to the development and success of the Glendale program.

In 2024, Tissot led Glendale College to one of the greatest seasons in school history. The team finished 2nd in the state, marking a historic team finish for the college. Jean Baptiste Badon captured the state singles championship, while Adam Ridaoui and Lance Morgan advanced to the state doubles final.

The 2023 season produced one of the most historic accomplishments of Tissot’s coaching career. He guided Glendale’s top players to victories at the ITA Cup, winning both the Junior College section and the Super Bowl. Jean Baptiste Badon became the first California junior college player to win the JUCO division of the ITA Cup. Badon then captured the Super Bowl draw, earning the distinction of being the top player across the Division II, Division III, and NAIA fields represented at the event. Badon also became the first California junior college player to represent a California JUCO in the NCAA Division I National Tournament in San Diego.

During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, the Glendale program continued making history. The team won the preseason doubles tournament and earned a place in the national tournament. David Martirosian and Yugo Homma earned All-American honors in doubles, while Martirosian also earned All-American honors in singles. In 2020, despite a season shortened by COVID-19, Glendale finished with a 7–3 record.

Tissot's impact at Glendale began immediately. In his first full season as head coach in 2019, he led the men's team to the Western State Conference championship, the program's first conference title since 2014. Glendale went 8–0 in conference play and finished 14–5 overall. The program also produced a record number of conference honors, including four first-team singles selections, two second-team singles selections, one first-team doubles team, two second-team doubles teams, Western State Conference Player of the Year Mark Peneff, and Tissot himself being named Western State Conference Coach of the Year. The team finished the season ranked 7th in the state.

Tissot has also worked with athletes competing at the professional level. In November 2019, he began coaching ATP professional and NCAA singles finalist Alexander Sarkissian, who had reached a career-high ranking of No. 158 in the world. During that time coach Tissot helped Sarkissian climb back in the rankings before retiring in November of 2021.

Prior to returning to Glendale, Tissot served as the Head Women's Tennis Coach at Palomar College beginning in December 2016. He was brought in to rebuild a women's program that had collapsed earlier that year. With only one returning athlete and approximately two months to assemble a team for the 2017 season, Tissot quickly rebuilt the program and produced strong results in his first season. Palomar finished with athletes reaching the top 16 in both singles and doubles at the regional/state tournament and recorded the program's best results in the Pacific Coast Athletic Confererence.
