He continued his playing career at Bismarck State College (N.D.), where he was regarded as one of the top junior college players in the country. He later transferred to the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), leading the team to the NAIA Final Four in 2004. He holds a bachelor’s degree in wellness.

Shaw currently resides in Miami, Florida, while his parents, Everin and Taryn Crook, and siblings—Larrance, Arkishi, Tabitha, Tamara, Tynikki, and Whitney—remain in Michigan.
