Nate Scola is in his sixth year as St. Thomas University’s Director of Strength and Conditioning.
Scola and his entire strength and conditioning staff work in unison with athletic training and medical staff to create the optimal environment for training and development. At STU, Scola oversees the Bobcat’s 5,000-square-foot weight room that he helped design and build. The facility is highlighted by twelve custom Rogue collegiate racks that feature built in platforms for an ideal and safe training environment.
He is part of a coaching and support staff that has led the Bobcat football program to a 43-14 record the past five years with three NAIA Football Championship appearances (2023, 2024, and 2025). In his time overseeing the Bobcats football strength program, 11 players have been selected AFCA-NAIA All-America and eight selected as AP-NAIA All-America. Over 70 all-conference selections, 5 SUN Conference player of the year, and 11 SUN Conference positional players of the year.
Scola had the pleasure of coaching and helping develop the all-time rushing leader in Florida college football history, Rontavious Farmer. He accumulated over 1,500 yards in each of his seasons and over 5,000 yards for his career at STU. Farmer earned a minicamp invite to the New York Giants.
Originally, from Apache Junction, AZ, Scola was an All-America Linebacker and the 2013 North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year while at Wabash College. At Wabash, he graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Rhetoric and minor in English in 2014. He received a master’s degree in kinesiology from Georgia Southern University (GA) in 2018. Scola has been a USA weightlifting member and coach since 2016, and is a (CSCS) certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
