Albrey Grimsley

Grimsley returns to St. Thomas, where she began her coaching career under then-head coach Robin Harmony. In 2008-09, she helped guide the Bobcats to The Sun Conference championship and a national championships berth. The 2009 St. Thomas team went 21-9 overall and 11-3 in conference play, while compiling an impressive 10-1 record in home games at the Fernandez Family Center. After winning The Sun Conference tournament with a win in the finals over Northwood, the Bobcats advanced to the NAIA national championships for the first time in program history.

Following her success as an assistant at STU, Grimsley served as an assistant coach as well as the interim head men's basketball coach at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Fla. In 2011-12, she became an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Central Florida. Last season, she was an assistant at Northwood under Head Coach Mark Stanford where she helped guide the Seahawks to a final four appearance in The Sun Conference Championships.

A 2008 graduate of the University of Miami, Grimsley played point guard for the Hurricanes and was team captain as a senior. She ranked in the Top 5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference in assists in 2007-08, and led the conference in assist/turnover ratio in all four years of her career. Grimsley was also in the top 10 in the ACC in field goal percentage every year of her collegiate career.

Grimsley is a native of Port St. Lucie, Fla. where she attended St. Lucie West Centennial High School. At St. Lucie West, she was a member of the National Honor Society and captained the women's basketball team. Grimsley earned Treasure Coast Player of the Year award after her senior year and was named a McDonald's All-American Top 100 player. Grimsley helmed St. Lucie West to four district championships and the state Final Four in the 2002 season. She was a Blue Star Top 30 guard throughout her high school career, and was selected as a Florida All-State selection in three of her four years. St. Lucie West was a four year All Treasure Coast team and All-District First Team with Grimsley running the point.

Off the court, Grimsley has founded the non-profit organization, Like It R Love It, Inc., which promotes health and wellness in the teenage community, as well as providing academic support with SAT, ACT, and Tutoring programs. Like It R Love It sponsors and participates in the Boys & Girls Club of Hobe Sound, Florida, and the Michael Shields fishing tournament. Like It R Love It hosts various charity events, summer camps, and sports clinics in the Treasure Coast area.
