Miami Gardens, Fla.- The Bobcats welcomed nearby rivals Florida Memorial to Bobcat Field Tuesday for Sun Conference action. A tough match by both teams, but the Bobcats were able to outlast winning 4-2.
Things started a little sluggish for the Bobcats as Junior Josh Quetgias committed an early foul inside his own box leading to a penalty kick. The goal was scored by the Lions' Cesar Lopez in just the match's 5th minute. The Bobcats were able to rally and equalize the match heading into half time after
Thiago Rocha brought in a corner kick finished by Julian Montoya.
In the 76th minute , Eran Belo brought in a beautiful pass leading to a goal scored by Douglas Sommer.
Thiago Rocha added a second assist to his stat sheet with another great corner kick this time finished by Josh Quetgias. The Lions tried to come back adding a second goal in the 86th minute, but
Thiago Rocha made the lead insurmountable with his goal in the 90th minute from a set piece.
The Bobcats (8-3-3 overall, 4-1-1 TSC) now find themselves in a tie with SCAD (7-3-2 overall, 4-1-1 in TSC) for second place behind Embry-Riddle (9-3-2 overall, 4-0-2 TSC) in The Sun Conference standings. Of course the Bobcats tied Embry-Riddle earlier last week at Bobcat Field. St. Thomas will bring a rescheduled match to Bobcat Field on Thursday, October 14 against Johnson & Wales at 5 PM.
