WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The lady Bobcats traveled to face Palm Beach Atlantic (3-2) Wednesday night for their second game of the season. Unfortunately, STU could not survive a second half surge by the Sailfish and fell in a close game, 66-68.
The Bobcats came out firing in the first half, hitting 52% from the field on 15-29 shooting. STU outshot PBA from three 5-13 to 1-9, and took a six-point lead into halftime.
Cindy Castrillon led all scorers in the first half with 15 on over 50% shooting.
PBA did not let the slight advantage deter them as they stepped up their defense and held STU to only 30% shooting in the second half. PBA outrebounded the Bobcats for the game 37-26 despite a mountain of turnovers for both teams. Both teams fought hard to the bitter end, but the Sailfish came out with the slight, 2-point victory.
CIndy Castrillon led all scorers for the game with 22 points and six rebounds. Alexandria Vanterpool nearly recorded a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Nickerline Montina added 18 and
Carissa Staiano scored 11.
The Bobcats (1-1) will face Lynn University in Boca Raton on Saturday at 4 PM.
