MIAMI LAKES, Fla.- The Bobcat women's basketball team traveled across town to face Barry University (2-1) Tuesday night. STU dropped its third consecutive game, 51-58.
The first half started out fairly even, as the Bucs held a one-point lead with five minutes remaining. From there, Barry went on a 13-3 run and took an 11-point advantage heading into the half. The Bobcats struggled shooting in the first half, hitting just 8-29 (27.6%).
Barry built their lead early in the second half, reaching a 17-point difference at one time. STU wasn't finished yet, and went on a 15-2 run trimming the lead down to three points with a minute and a half remaining. However, a three-pointer, an offensive rebound, and a few free throws were enough for Barry to build a seven-point advantage in the game's final seconds.
Cindy Castrillon led all scorers with 21 on 5-17 shooting. Alexandria Vanterpool had a solid game with 12 points and 7 rebounds. The Bobcats shot just 65% from the free-throw line and 33% from the field with 25% coming from beyond the arc. STU (1-3) will travel to Southeastern Saturday for a 6 PM game.
