LAKELAND, Fla.- The Bobcats traveled to Southeastern University (6-6) Wednesday night to face their first Sun Conference opponent of the season. STU mounted a 10-point lead headed into half time but had to hold off a late attack by the Fire, and escaped with a 67-63 victory.
The Bobcats jumped out quick, shooting 52% (15/29) in the first half compared to just 44% from Southeastern. STU also took advantage of the Fire's poor shooting from the charity stripe as Southeastern only hit 56% while the Bobcats dropped five of six. The Bobcats went in to the half with a 38-28 lead.
Southeastern outshot the Bobcats in the second half 48% to 36% and nearly pulled off the comeback. However, STU continued hitting their free throws and wrapped up the game with a four-point win.
Antonio Jones, once again, led all scorers with 26 and grabbed five boards for the game.
Tracy Razz covered the stat sheet with nine points, four rebounds and three assists. STU (2-2) will travel to Salt Lake City, Ut. this weekend to compete in the Westminster Classic. Check back with
