BABSON PARK, Fla.- The Bobcats are settling into conference play and took their game on the road for matchups against Edward Waters and Webber Int'l. STU beat Edward Waters Friday night and finished the road trip off, taking out Webber 59-51.
The opening period was somewhat back-and-forth, but the Bobcats found themselves with a 7-point lead and five minutes left before half. Webber battled back and went on a 9-0 run, re-gaining the lead and holding it at 4 at the break.
The Bobcats went on an 8-0 run midway through the second period that gave them a 1-point lead. As the clock ticked down, neither team had proven that they could sustain a lead. STU squashed that problem and finally took over the game on a possession that saw two offensive rebounds lead to a made basket putting them up 3. The Bobcats were able to hit clutch free-throws and fend off Webber attacks down the stretch to come out with the win. STU moves to 10-6 overall and 4-1 in the Sun Conference.
Cindy Castrillon tied Webber's Nikki King to lead all scorers with 17. Alexandria Vanterpool continued her consistent play, adding 12 points and 6 rebounds.
Amanda Fernandez provided solid support with 13 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds in twenty-seven minutes off the bench. The Ladies will go to Northwood Thursday for a 6 PM matchup.
