MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - This Wednesday St. Thomas University's men's soccer team was brought to a 3-1 victory over conference opponent Webber University at Bobcat Field.
STU improves to 6-5-1 overall on the year. The Bobcats controlled possession throughout much of the first half after Webber took an early 1-0 lead. STU took a total of 14 shots for the game, 6 in the first half compared to only 2 shots taken by the Warriors. #12 Jarion Moreno led the way for the Bobcat offense, with 4 shots total and 2 goals scored. All of Moreno's goals were unassisted. For the Warriors, Javier De La Cruz scored their only goal early in the first half.
The game was delayed with 16:53 to go in the second half due to rain. Eventually, the teams hit the field again ready for action. # 18 Jonathan Rico, who was named NAIA Offensive Player of the week last week scored the only other goal for the Bobcats which was assisted by #9 Eran Belo. STU goalkeeper Aaron Jones continues working hard on defense finishing with 5 saves. Webber's goalkeeper #1 Brandon Stout finished with five saves as well.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Johnson & Wales. Kickoff is set for 7 pm, come cheer on the Bobcats!
