MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - St. Thomas welcomed the Northwood Seahawks to the Fernandez Center Wednesday night for a non-conference match. The Bobcats outlasted the Seahawks in all three games, but won handily, 3-0.
The first game was extremely close throughout and ended in STU's favor, 32-30. The second game was also extended beyond regulation with a 27-25 St. Thomas decision. Northwood tried to rally in the final game but the Bobcats held them off with a final score of 25-19.
STU had a strong attack, totaling 45 kills while hitting at a .168 clip. Defensively, the Bobcats showed their ability to meet Northwood at the net with 19 total blocks, along with 62 digs.
Strong performances came from
Betina Schmidt with 15 kills and 12 digs, while
Angie Ardiles tallied 20 digs and 5 assists.
Slavica Stefanovic also supported with 11 kills and 8 digs.
The Bobcats improve to 15-4 and remain in second in the conference at 9-2. St. Thomas will face Florida College in Temple Terrace, Fla. Friday at 7 p.m.
