St. Thomas Volleyball goes 3-0 on weekend trip

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The Bobcats played three non-conference matches this weekend and only dropped one game on their way to three wins.

STU began their road trip Friday, going to Florida College in Temple Terrace.  The Bobcats won the first two games 32-30 and 25-23, respectively.  FC picked up the third game 25-20, but St. Thomas flexed their muscles in the fourth and pulled out a 25-17 win.  Betina Schmidt and Slavica Stefanovic tallied 17 and 16 kills, respectively.  Angie Ardiles led STU with 21 digs.

The final two matches were played against Spelman and Wesleyan Colleges in Macon, Ga.  Spelman brought little competition for the Bobcats as they won easily, 25-13 25-8 25-21.  Mayara Gomes hit at a .426 clip with 9 kills.

Wesleyan did little to contend with STU as they were easily handled in straight games, 25-12 25-7 25-10.  Stefanovic hit at a .667 clip with 17 kills and only 1 error.

St. Thomas holds strong at 2nd in the conference with a 9-2 record, 18-4 overall.  The Bobcats will go on the road for their next three games, beginning with Northwood on Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
